Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to questions we hear most often

What is Home Accounts?
Home Finances is a private, powerful personal finance app for Mac. It helps you track every account (bank, credit card, investment, loan, mortgage, and savings), manage subscriptions, forecast mortgage payments, track investments, and organize financial documents — all with your data staying completely private on your Mac.
Is my data safe and private?
Yes. Home Finances is 100% private — your financial data never leaves your Mac. We don't use cloud storage, we don't track you, and we don't share your information with third parties. All data is stored locally in your application folder using standard macOS encryption.
What macOS versions are supported?
Home Finances requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. It's optimized for the latest versions of macOS and takes advantage of modern SwiftUI features for a smooth, native experience.
Can I import my existing bank statements?
Yes. Home Finances supports importing CSV bank statements. Most banks allow you to export your transaction history as a CSV file. You can then import these statements into the app to get your transaction history populated. The app will automatically reconcile transactions as you mark them as cleared.
How do I get my data out if I want to leave?
All your data is yours. You can export your accounts and transactions as CSV files at any time. Simply go to File → Export and choose what you'd like to export. Since there's no cloud sync, uninstalling the app leaves your data in the app folder until you delete it.
Is there an iOS or web version?
Home Finances is built exclusively for macOS to deliver the best experience on Mac. An iOS app is currently in development. There is no web version — we've designed the app specifically for macOS to take advantage of its power and capabilities while keeping your data completely private on your device.
Is there a cost or subscription?
No. Home Finances is a one-time purchase with no subscriptions, no cloud fees, and no ongoing costs. You buy it once from the Mac App Store and own it forever. All features are included — there's no "pro" version or paywalls.
How do I sync my data across multiple Macs?
You can use iCloud Drive to keep your data in sync across your Macs. Simply enable iCloud sync in Preferences → iCloud, and your data will be synchronized across all your Macs using iCloud encryption. This is optional — you can also keep data local to a single Mac if you prefer.
